How to pursue dental hygiene course in Canada?
Dental hygiene is one of the fastest growing career in Canada.
Generally dental hygiene course comes in three different types i.e., diploma, associates and bachelor's.
The diploma and associates program are of 2&3 years respectively. If you want to complete your course in short period of time then you should go for diploma or associates program,
After completing your course in any of the above level, you can give the national dental board exam in Canada. The NDEB exam has two parts:-practical and theory. As you know that theory is easy to pass but for practical exam you must have enough clinical knowledge about making root canals, cleaning of teeth, fluoride treatment and many more skills.
If you wish to be a lecturer or a professor in any university then you must have a bachelor's degree.
Salary depends upon the provinces of Canada, such as in Alberta you get highest starting wage with around 35$/hour especially in big cities such as Calgary and Edmonton. British Columbia comes second in terms of highest salary according to latest statistical reports. Vancouver pays around 32$/hour.
If we talk about Manitoba, sasketchwan, and Ontario provinces you still make around 25-30$/hour, again depending upon cities.
But dh course is not all about making money, you have to go through a number of challenges and difficulties, but as hard work pays off, you will definitely achieve it, I know that!!

Let's talk only about international students now as it is too tough for them to pursue the course.
If you are from India and want to pursue this course then first you should be a 12th PCB passout. There are a number of colleges and universities offering dh course at the various levels. Some colleges offer you direct admissions into their institute such as on the basis of your 12th and 10th grades, your IELTS score which must be atleast above 6.5 though there is one college which gives you admission on 6 bands which is "College of New Caledonia" in Prince George, BC.
In many colleges there are pre-requisites that you must complete but they do offer you time to complete that pre-requisites in their college and compete for dh course.
Confederation college and Dalhousie university gives you direct admission in their campus but they first preferences will definitely be Canadian students , though it's not that cutthroating.
With proper guidance and hard work you will achieve it.
